About
Revlynn Lawson is a government relations professional with over 25 years experience. She began her career in public policy as a high school intern in the office of the late Congressman JJ “Jake” Pickle and later became a legislative aide to Congressman Lloyd Doggett while in law school.
Most recently, Revlynn was a partner in the Governmental Affairs Department at Linebarger, Goggan, Blair & Sampson, a national law firm with a practice dedicated to the collection of delinquent government receivables. Her vast experience working in the realm of policy and politics, navigating complex issues and relationships with policymakers at all levels of government, negotiating issues impacting individuals and businesses are the cornerstones of her sustained success.
Prior to joining Linebarger, Revlynn was the Committee Director for the State of Texas House Committee on County Affairs. This experience provided her with robust policy experience and a broad set of relationships in both the House and Senate, as well as judges, commissioners and other local elected officials from the 254 counties in the state. She also gained a thorough understanding of the legislative and parliamentary processes and the roles of legislative leaders, their staff, and committee staff.
Revlynn previously served as the Chief Operating Officer of Drew Child Development Corporation, a non-profit family services agency in Los Angeles whose revenue regularly exceeds $22 million. She managed daily operations, performance objectives and ongoing organizational strategic planning by developing and executing the annual business plan.
Prior to this, Revlynn was the Western Region Development Director for the United Negro College Fund (UNCF), a national organization with offices in several major cities. She successfully secured over $1 million from corporations, foundations and individuals to support UNCF's member institutions and provide scholarships to deserving college students.
As a member of the legislative team and later the Director of Governmental Relations for the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS), Revlynn directed the department's legislative agenda, wrote key legislation and testified in legislative hearings at both the state and federal levels around the issues of child welfare and law enforcement.
Revlynn is a proud 5th generation Texan and an active member of The Links, Incorporated and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. She serves as a Board Member of several non-profit organizations: Breakthrough Central Texas, The Library Foundation of Austin, and the Center for Civic and Public Policy Improvement. She is also a member of the Advisory Council for Explore Austin.
Revlynn Lawson is a graduate of the University of Southern California with Bachelor degrees in Psychology and Sociology and a Master of Social Work. She received her Juris Doctor from Washington University Law School in St. Louis, MO and is licensed to practice in the State of Texas and the District of Columbia. Revlynn lives in Austin, Texas with her black labrador retriever, Zora.
